Mt. Vernon High School Performing Arts

Hi Folks:

I want to tell you how pleased I am for your efforts at last night's concert. You were thoughtful about your singing, attentive to the conducting and generally in good mental and vocal form.

Singing is easy. Singing well takes effort, energy and thought and last night, I heard evidence of all three. Congratulations!

Well, here we are, three day's out from our first major concert on Oct. 6 and I am truly excited to hear the students sing. In all candor, that is not always the case. At times the repertoire we have selected is too difficult or has not caught the imaginations of the singers. This year however, it seems that most everyone likes most everything we are singing and are excited about the upcoming performance. What's more, the music seems to fit our voices well and that is an encourager in and of itself. This is going to be fun and I believe, a very fulfilling musical experience.

I want to congratulate all the participants and tell you that I am very proud of you and your efforts. From the gentle beauty of "Everthing Beautiful Happens at Night" to the fun of "Favorite Son" and "Howling at the Moon", you distinguished yourselves by your thoughtful singing and concentration.It is my hope that this is only the beginning of a great year.

Congratulations again! I am proud of you.
